The Generali Maratón de Málaga runs on Sunday 8 November 2026 at 8:30, from the Paseo del Parque beside the town hall, and its half marathon goes off the same morning from the same place. That is the one people book by mistake.
The XXXVI TotalEnergies Media Maratón Ciudad de Málaga runs on Sunday 7 March 2027 at 8:15, on a certified 21.097 km course, also from the Paseo del Parque. It is organised by Málaga Sport AD and Sport Life Ibérica with the city council, while the November race belongs to the Generali event.

November has four fixed prices that never move: 140.00 euros for the marathon, 98.00 for the half, and VIP versions at 280.00 and 258.00. Enter on the first day or the last and you pay the same.
March climbs in 7 steps, each tied to a date, and the gap between the first and the last is 27 euros — the price of the first tier all over again.

Set against the 98 euros of the November half, the March race is 44 to 71 euros cheaper for the same distance in the same streets. Entry closes on 1 March 2027 or when the 14,000 numbers are gone, whichever comes first.
November or March, and the weather that decides it
The instinct is that the later race in the year is the wetter one, and here it is the other way round. AEMET counts 42.3 rainy days a year in Málaga, and by month the split runs 5.6 days in November against 4.0 in March. The autumn race sits in the wetter of the two.

The March race allows 3 hours from the official start of the last wave, which is the figure to check against your own half-marathon time before entering. Aid stations with water and isotonic drinks sit at kilometres 5.5, 10.5, 12.5, 15.5 and 18, plus the finish — five on course, and the longest dry stretch is the 5.5 km to the first one.
The number itself includes an official shirt, handed over at number collection, a finisher medal, free bag drop, medical cover, a live-tracking app and a downloadable diploma and video.
What is not published on a page that can be read are the equivalent rules for the November marathon — cut-off, aid stations, number collection — because its own site refuses connections. Its entry platform gives the date, the time, the start and the fees, and the rest has to be checked with that organiser directly.
Race morning takes over the Paseo del Parque and the port axis, so getting across town changes for a few hours.
