Benalmádena cable car, three prices for the same ride

Children under 3 years or under one metre tall travel free. General admission starts at 17.90 euros online and 21.90 at the desk, the reduced rate at 12.90 and 16.90, and a one-way ride at 10.90. The 23.90 general rate exists only as the base that the promotions are calculated from.

The combined ticket sold by the Teleférico Benalmádena covers two Selwo parks and the cable car itself, which looks like three separate attractions clubbing together. The site’s own privacy notice says otherwise: Parques Reunidos Servicios Centrales, S.A. and Leisure Parks, S.A. are named as joint controllers of all of it.

How much is the Benalmádena cable car? General admission starts at €17.90 online and €21.90 at the ticket office, the reduced rate at €12.90 and €16.90, and a one-way ride at €10.90 and €12.90. Children under 3 or under one metre tall travel free. The €23.90 general rate without discounts exists only as the base the promotions are calculated from.

The SelwoPack costs from €48.90 online and €54.90 at the desk for the three sites together. The cable car alone runs from €17.90 online and from €21.90 at the desk, with a reduced rate from €12.90 that also covers large families and companions, and anyone under 3 years or one metre tall travels free.

One operator, one bundle

The SelwoPack costs from €48.90 online and €54.90 at the desk for the three sites together. What else the town opens to visitors is set out in what to see in Benalmádena.

Framed that way it stops being a deal between rivals and becomes what it is: a group selling its own inventory in one transaction. That is worth knowing before comparing it with anything else, and it is the same logic that governs the municipal museum passes described in Picasso’s birthplace museum.

It also explains an absence. There is no equivalent bundle with the other big family plan on the same railway line, Bioparc Fuengirola, because that one belongs to somebody else.

Who operates the three sites in the combined ticketParques Reunidos and Leisure Parks are named as joint controllers of the cable car, Selwo Aventura and Selwo Marina, which is why the three share one combined ticket. One group, three gates, one bundleParques Reunidos Servicios Centrales and Leisure ParksCable carSelwo AventuraSelwo MarinaSelwoPack from €48.90 online and €54.90 at the desk
The bundle does not cross companies; it gathers what one group already owns.

Buying at the gate costs four euros more than buying online on the general rate. And a third figure sits alongside them: an undiscounted general admission of €23.90, which the site explains is the price promotions are calculated on, and those promotions cannot be combined.

So a percentage off is not applied to the €17.90 online rate but to the higher one. Knowing that is what stops a headline discount from looking better than simply booking ahead.

Four euros separate the app from the queue, and a third figure exists only on paper.

Who counts as reduced is broader than the word suggests. It covers children from 3 years old or one metre up to 7, visitors with a disability, whose companion enters free, and large families.

Below that, nothing is charged at all: anyone under one metre needs neither ticket nor pass, which is the clearest rule on the whole price list.

Getting there without a car

The station is Benalmádena-Arroyo de la Miel, on the C-1 line that runs from central Malaga through the airport and Torremolinos to Fuengirola, so the day works without a car or a change, on the terms set out in Malaga’s cercanías trains and the western coast by train.

That is the dividing line on this coast. Plans that sit beside a station work in a day; the ones that do not, like Marbella, need road transport, as getting around Malaga explains. In the same town, and for €3.50, there is Colomares Castle.

Two notices to check on the day

The site carries two operational warnings that are not decoration. Ticket sales may be suspended temporarily once maximum capacity is reached, for reasons of capacity and safety.

And on the day this was checked, the site stated that the cable car would remain closed that day for maintenance work. This is mountain machinery on Monte Calamorro, and it stops when it needs to, which is why the €25.90 open-date ticket exists at all.

Opening hours, journey time and the times of the birds of prey display on Monte Calamorro are not listed here, because those pages load by JavaScript and return no readable content. What is published, and what this article carries, are the fares and the notices.

Frequently asked questions about the Benalmádena cable car

How much is the Benalmádena cable car?

General admission starts at €17.90 online and €21.90 at the ticket office. The reduced rate starts at €12.90 online and €16.90 on the door, and children under 3 or under one metre tall travel free.

Can you buy a one-way ticket up Monte Calamorro?

Yes. A single ride starts at €10.90 online and €12.90 at the desk on the general rate, or €9.90 and €11.90 reduced. It is the option for anyone planning to walk back down the mountain paths.

How do you reach the Benalmádena cable car from Malaga?

On the C-1 commuter line to Benalmádena-Arroyo de la Miel. That is the same line linking central Malaga with the airport, Torremolinos and Fuengirola, so the trip needs no change.

Why is there a combined ticket with the Selwo parks?

Because the same operators run all three. The site’s privacy notice names Parques Reunidos Servicios Centrales, S.A. and Leisure Parks, S.A. as joint controllers, and the SelwoPack bundles their two Selwo parks with the cable car.

A second evening option sits at the same Cercanías stop, priced online and open until ten at night, in Sea Life Benalmadena.

Three prices for one ride up the same mountain. The cheapest is the one bought before leaving the flat.
