Soho Málaga Restaurants, Where to Eat and What It Costs

Five places to eat in Málaga's Soho sit within 187 metres of each other, and the hour you turn up decides which one works. Santa Coffee opens at 8am, Picnic serves tapas from €5 to €8 until 11:30pm, Óleo shuts its kitchen from 4:30pm to 8:30pm and Atrezzo keeps cooking all afternoon.

Turn up in Málaga’s Soho at 5pm, hungry and on Spanish time for the first day, and two of the five places to eat will not feed you: Óleo shuts its kitchen from 4:30pm to 8:30pm and Santa Coffee Soho is down to cakes and focaccias before closing at 8pm. Picnic Soho, at Calle Barroso 10, keeps cooking until 11:30pm, and Atrezzo runs a non-stop pizza kitchen from 1:30pm to midnight, Thursday to Monday.

Soho in Málaga is the street-art district between the Alameda Principal and the port, where a speciality café, a diner, a fried-fish bar and two dinner restaurants cluster. All five sit within 187 metres of each other. The nearest metro stop, Atarazanas, is 87 metres from Santa Coffee.

Where should I eat in Soho, Málaga? Pick by the hour. Santa Coffee Soho, Calle Tomás Heredia 5, serves breakfast from 8am and brunch until 4pm. Picnic Soho has tapas from €5.50 and cooks until 11:30pm. Los Mellizos Soho does fried fish at a bar. Óleo, Calle Casas de Campos 4, needs booking 24 hours ahead and closes on Sunday.

Is Soho worth it for eating in Málaga

Soho is worth it if you want a short walk between breakfast, lunch and dinner, and if the plan is coffee, sushi, burgers or fried fish rather than a crawl of old taverns.

Soho is not an official neighbourhood: on the city’s own map its streets belong to Ensanche Centro, as explained in Málaga’s 419 neighbourhoods. Most visitors come for the murals, mapped in the Soho street art walk.

The trade-off is choice. Five places with a published menu or website is a small list, and only Los Mellizos Soho cooks Málaga-style fried fish. For a run of tapas bars one after another, the historic centre across the Alameda Principal has more, and how ordering works there is in tapas in Málaga’s old town.

Which Soho restaurant suits your plan

This table compares the five with the prices and hours each one publishes, plus what matters most to a first-time visitor: an English menu and Sunday opening.

For a first night, Óleo is the pick if you can book a day ahead; if you cannot, Atrezzo is 25 metres away on the same street. For a cheap lunch, Picnic. What to order in Málaga beyond this street, dish by dish, is in what to eat in Málaga, and the wider city is covered in where to eat in Málaga.

Which Soho restaurants have an English menu

Four of the five publish something in English, which matters if your Spanish stops at «la cuenta». In order of how much they give you before you sit down:

  1. Óleo has a full English menu on its website, alongside the Spanish one with the same prices, from €2.60 nigiri to the €40 roast piglet for sharing.
  2. Picnic Soho prints its menu in English as well as Spanish, with every price from the €1.60 coffee to the €16.50 double smash burger.
  3. Los Mellizos Soho has an English page on its website describing the bar and the fish display, but no prices.
  4. Santa Coffee Soho runs an English version of its website.
  5. Atrezzo publishes no menu with prices, so ask at the table.

When to eat in Soho outside Spanish meal times

Soho keeps Spanish hours, with one useful exception. Óleo serves Tuesday to Saturday from 1:30pm to 4:30pm and 8:30pm to midnight. Atrezzo opens Thursday to Monday from 1:30pm and Tuesday and Wednesday from 6pm, always until midnight, with the kitchen open throughout.

Óleo serves from 1:30pm to 4:30pm and again from 8:30pm to midnight, Tuesday to Saturday. The 4:30pm to 8:30pm gap is real at Óleo; for a late lunch or an early dinner, Atrezzo and Picnic keep serving.

Picnic Soho opens Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 11:30pm and on Saturday from 1:30pm, with breakfast until 12:30pm and the kitchen from 1pm. The wider pattern for the whole city is in Málaga meal times.

Best breakfast and brunch in Soho, Santa Coffee or Picnic

Santa Coffee Soho opens Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm and at weekends from 9am. It roasts its own beans: an espresso or cortado costs €2.90, a flat white €3.50 and a butter croissant €2.60. Brunch runs until 4pm, with plates at €10.90, such as scrambled eggs with avocado and bacon, and €11.50, such as the salmon brioche.

Picnic Soho is the budget breakfast, weekdays only. Toast with olive oil costs €2.00 and a white coffee, café con leche, €1.60, so the pair comes to €3.60. A Spanish-style toast with cured ham, tomato and oil, the catalana, is €3.00. Other brunch options in the city are compared in Málaga brunch.

Cheap eats in Soho, what tapas and burgers cost at Picnic

Picnic Soho is where two people eat for under €20. The menu it publishes lists croquettes at €5.50, Russian salad, ensaladilla, at €5.50, patatas bravas at €7.00 and a glass of Estrella beer at €3.00. Croquettes, bravas and two beers come to €18.50 for two.

Burgers run from €13.50 to €16.50 with fries, and salads cost €10.50. It is an American-style diner, so nachos and wraps sit next to the Spanish tortilla: good for a group with mixed tastes, less so if you came for Málaga cooking.

Where to eat fried fish at the bar in Soho

Los Mellizos Soho, Calle Tomás Heredia 21, is built around a big central bar with a display of fresh fish and seafood, and serves full and half portions of fried fish, the local pescaíto frito. There are tables inside and a large terrace.

Prices and hours are not on its website, so ask when you book online or call +34 951 563 624. The group runs other restaurants in Málaga and along the coast, including a separate Málaga Centro branch on +34 952 220 315, so check you are booking the Soho one.

How to book dinner at Óleo and what to order

Óleo, Calle Casas de Campos 4, pairs Málaga cooking by chef Sergio del Río with a sushi bar run by Rui Junior, and has a terrace by the Guadalmedina river.

Its menu prices a salmon nigiri at €2.60 a piece, uramaki rolls of 8 pieces from €12 to €18.50 and the 16-piece combo at €29.50.

From the Mediterranean side, puchero croquettes cost €5 as a tapa and €10 as a half portion, and mains run from €20 for duck magret to €24 for the Iberian pork presa. Óleo asks for bookings at least 24 hours ahead; groups call +34 952 21 90 62. Its contact page lists Sunday and Monday as closed, while its booking page mentions Monday dinners from 8:30pm, so confirm a Monday when you book. Other sushi options are compared in Japanese restaurants in Málaga.

Óleo’s menu states that all prices include VAT, so the figure on the menu is the final price and no tax is added at the table. Without a booking, Atrezzo next door serves Neapolitan-style pizza and takes reservations on +34 617 82 12 92; its menu prices are not online, and Málaga pizza places with prices fills that gap.
