Escape rooms in Málaga in English, and what a group pays

Two Malaga escape rooms play every room in English without asking in advance: Game Over in El Perchel and La Casa de las Habitaciones near María Zambrano station. A group of 4 pays 88 euros for an hour at the first and 64 at the second, and Game Over takes no deposit when you book.

Booking an escape room in Malaga from abroad runs into two snags: cash and deposits. escaPark, on Avenida Manuel Agustín Heredia, takes cash only at the venue, and Gabinete Escarlata, in Carranque, asks for a 10-euro deposit online and the rest in cash, for a room played only in Spanish. Game Over, Calle Ancha del Carmen 46, takes card or cash on arrival.

Are there escape rooms in English in Malaga? Yes. Game Over, Calle Ancha del Carmen 46, runs all 4 rooms in English with no need to ask when booking, from 20 to 27 euros a head. La Casa de las Habitaciones, near María Zambrano station, plays in English too, from 14 euros a head, with a 30-euro deposit.

An escape room is a game in which a group locked in a themed room solves clues to get out before the clock runs out. In Malaga a game lasts 60 to 80 minutes, 4 of these 5 venues are within 1 kilometre of María Zambrano, the main train station, and Game Over closes on Mondays.

Which escape rooms play in English

Game Over states that all its rooms are always available in English and Spanish, and that you do not need to mention it when booking. Its 4 rooms run from La Misión del Profesor, the easiest by its own ranking, to Chernóbil, the hardest. Its neighbour across the station, La Casa de las Habitaciones, also plays every room in English, including Pena de Muerte, its 75-minute room.

Gabinete Escarlata is in Spanish only “for now”, in its own words. Escape Room Teatinos and escaPark do not publish which languages they play in, so ask before booking. Other indoor plans for a wet afternoon are in Málaga when it rains.

What a couple or a group of 4 pays

Prices are per person and fall as the group grows. At Game Over, an hour costs 27 euros a head for 2 players, 22 for 4 or 5 and 20 for 6 to 8. La Casa de las Habitaciones charges 25 euros a head for 2 in Druidas y Mazmorras and El Robo, 16 for 4 and 14 for 6.

Booking, paying and opening hours

  1. Pick the language first: Game Over and La Casa de las Habitaciones play in English.
  2. Check how you will pay: card at Game Over, cash at escaPark and Gabinete Escarlata.
  3. Book a slot on the venue’s own calendar and arrive 15 minutes early.

Game Over takes no deposit: you pay at the venue just before playing, by card or in cash, and change the booking through the link in the confirmation email. At La Casa de las Habitaciones the deposit is 30 euros per room by card, deducted from the price and refunded if you cancel at least 48 hours ahead.

Gabinete Escarlata takes 10 euros online and the rest in cash after the game, and does not allow cancellation with less than 24 hours to go. escaPark is cash only, with a photo and soft-drinks extra at 10 euros.

Game Over opens Tuesday to Friday from 4.30pm to 10.30pm, and at weekends from 11am to 1.30pm and 3pm to 11.30pm, so there are no weekday morning games, and a 7pm slot ends well before a Spanish dinner, explained in Malaga meal times. Gabinete Escarlata adds about 20 minutes of welcome and debrief to its 80-minute game, so plan on almost 1 hour 40.

What else is shut on a Monday is in what closes on Mondays in Malaga.

Bringing children

Game Over has no minimum age, but under-14s must play with at least one adult in the group, and under-5s go free. escaPark takes players from 12, or 14 for its Harry Potter room, where half the group must be adults, and it does not let non-players wait in reception.

With children under 12, Game Over takes them as long as an adult plays in the group; La Casa de las Habitaciones asks families with minors to contact it first.

The minimum at La Casa de las Habitaciones is 14, and it suggests families with minors contact it to choose a room; Gabinete Escarlata asks for 14 with an adult. Other family plans are in Malaga with kids. From 14, Game Over needs no adult in the team; other activities by age are in Málaga with teenagers.

With younger children, bowling is the easier group plan: Galaxy Park has side bumpers and a ramp at Vialia and Muelle Uno, from 5 euros a game, covered in bowling in Málaga.

Getting there

Game Over is in El Perchel, about 500 metres from María Zambrano station, a stop on the Malaga metro. La Casa de las Habitaciones and Gabinete Escarlata are on the far side of the station, and city bus 14 stops close to La Casa.
